"I am always doing what I cannot do yet, in order to learn how to do it"

Vincent Van Gogh

Joseph Tabri came to Canada at the age of 19, French educated he quickly embraced the Canadian way of life,

and the beauty of this country.

Choosing to learn a profession that he enjoys was a hard decision, art being a big influence, he initially

considered architecture but decided to become a dentist like his father before him.

He settled in Toronto but found sanctuary  at his cottage in Haliburton. A sleepy town with an abundance of

undiscovered natural beauty.

A tinkerer by nature, always trying  different things and experimenting with new media; oils, pastels, acrylic,

charcoal and finally glass mosaics. A medium through which he was able to

transform and reshape nature  with color and texture.

Each artwork is unique, a representation but never an imitation of actual

landscapes. Inspired by the group of seven artists and the beauty of the

Canadian Shield. His art follows the same lines and colors found in our

great Canadian north. Multitude of lakes and unspoiled wilderness feed his

imagination as he stubbornly attempts to capture the constant flow of the

wind rushing towards the water and dancing with the trees along the way...

"Like a rose bearing thorns, the beauty of glass doesn't come without a price, it needs to be handled with care

and tamed into shape before it can reveal its true beauty."

Self taught for the most part he initially learned stained glass panelling in Toronto. There, he continues to reside

and practice dentistry ...
